Therapeutic Massage in Auckland
A focus on health and relaxation
I combine 20 years of massage experience into my unique therapeutic massage sessions. Most of my clients come with stress, pain, or fatigue so I listen to my clients’ needs and work to support them with a specific goal. I combine deep tissue, acupressure and relaxation techniques for great results. Therapeutic Massage relaxes mind and body and gently moves and lengthens the soft tissue (muscle, fascial tissue and tendons) to restore normal functional movement. Deep Tissue Massage
My TM technique moves along the lines of the muscles but can also involve deeper tissue massage. A combination of deep tissue massage, myofascial release and acupressure helps me to lengthen the muscles in the body and help them relax in order to regain balance. Myofascial massage, also known as myofascial release, is a type of soft-tissue therapy that targets the fascia, a fine web of tissue that surrounds the muscles. Myofascial massage helps to improve posture, clear long-held tension, and heal post-surgical adhesions and scarring. My focus is working on and in between the muscles, to improve the circulation and functional movement within the body. It helps support my clients to relax and to calm their muscles. It helps to increase mobility, circulation, relaxation, range of motion and flexibility.
I focus on muscles that have become tense, short and tight and work on regaining their full range of motion. Therapeutic techniques are also very useful when dealing with muscles that are in spasm as it reminds them how to let go and relax. I use many of these same techniques with abdominal massage on clients with lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Combined Massage Techniques
Sometimes a more gentle approach is needed and I use relaxing massage in combination with acupressure which I find very powerful in achieving positive shifts within my clients’ bodies. Acupressure and Therapeutic Massage compliment each other really well.
The touch can be gentle or firm and it depends on the level of pressure that is appropriate and that will provide my client with the maximum benefit from the session and to help their bodies progress towards a balanced state.
People come to me seeking treatment for a specific condition and my approach is to determine what that particular person and body needs. I don’t follow a top to toe prescribed massage technique unless people request a massage for overall relaxation and wellbeing.
Following a session clients tell me they feel:
- More relaxed
- Sleep better
- Relief from pain
- Taller!
Many people think having a massage requires you to undress. In my practice, this is always optional according to what the client prefers. I can work effectively with clients wearing loose or gym type clothing and I generaly do acupressure massage sessions fully clothed.
For first time clients, I discuss their needs and what they’d like to achieve from the session and threat them from there. Contact me to arrange a booking.
