Acupressure Massage in Auckland
Reduce tension and stress with a targeted massage
Introducing acupressure massage with one of Auckland’s most experienced therapists. Visit me at my clinic in Takapuna on the North Shore.
Acupressure massage is based on the theories behind acupuncture (traditional needle therapy) and could be described as acupuncture without the needles. Some people also call it pressure-point massage. My work also has similarities to shiatsu (japan) and tui-na (traditional chinese medicine).
Acupressure is the art of precise pressure point massage, and works to unblock chi or energy. It targets points on lines, known in traditional Chinese medicine as meridians, in the body through which energy flows.
This philosophy also views the organs and meridians relating to our emotions, so effective application can aid recovery from emotional distress also.
A fast and effective path to healing
Over two decades as a massage therapist focused on acupressure massage, I have developed a highly intuitive sense of touch that allows me to quickly interpret the body and its messages. Acupressure massage allows me to quickly target problem areas and focus on your specific needs. When helpful I also incorporate other techniques from western therapeutic massage.
I most often use acupressure therapy in cases of stress-related illness and pain syndromes. I am also sought out to use acupressure massage in treatment for headaches and migraines, insomnia, back pain and for inducing labour. Rather than use it to treat a disease my focus is on supporting the client’s general health and wellbeing and bringing them back into balance, resulting in mental calmness, more energy, muscle relaxation, better posture and improved digestion.
Following our appointments, many of my clients report having more energy, feeling less tense and having a better sense of ‘flow’ and body awareness.
