Pain: not a life sentence
Treating pain at its root
Pain is one of the most common reasons for clients coming to see me, from back pain and neck and shoulder pain to sciatica, stomach pain, arthritis and debilitating migraines.
In these cases I’m not treating the pain itself — I’m looking for the root cause or causes and they vary with each individual.
I observe the muscles, posture, circulation, gut health, and the acupressure meridians. I also search for signs of stress, tension and inflammation.
Healing inflammation through massage
Ongoing pain is typically treated with anti-inflammatories and painkillers, but if the factors causing inflammation haven’t been identified, such as postural issues or stress, these maladies will recur due to irritation of the tissues and nerves.
I use a combination of acupressure and therapeutic massage and with some clients include postural analysis and exercise to release tension, promote good circulation and help the body to heal.
I have seen many clients with debilitating back pain or sciatic nerve pain and, having had a major back injury myself, I am careful to go at the right pace for the relief of each client. Chronic pain in many cases causes fatigue and anxiety and I am very experienced with supporting clients through these issues.
My practice aims to treat the roots of pain and inflammation, and gradually realign and rebalance the body.
