Stress: an illness epidemic
The root cause of many complaints
Stress-related ailments are the most common reason people come to see me. Stress can manifest itself in our bodies in many different ways, including:
- Fatigue and burn out
- Pain and chronic pain
- Gut issues – e.g. irritable bowel, constipation, diarrhoea, colitis, Crohn’s disease, bloating
- Anxiety and depression
- Insomnia
- Headaches and migraines
- Tinnitus
Many people reach a crisis point where they don’t know how to ‘fix’ their health or regain a sense of calm. These feelings of helplessness, combined with dealing with daily anxiety, pain and/or ill-health, can spiral out of control, leaving some burnt out or in a state of despair. As a massage therapist I’ve made helping people manage stress a priority.
Stress management is my speciality
Stress-related illnesses are where my practice is most effective. Professional acupressure and massage therapy are powerful relaxation techniques and can be an effective way to deal with stress. Many of my clients are trying to cope with challenges at work, manage anxiety or pain, or heal after a traumatic event or period in their lives. For some clients, it’s just that they have forgotten how to relax and don’t feel like themselves anymore.
My holistic health approach means I take the time to listen to my clients and help them understand what’s happening in their bodies. Together we unravel the issues, and start working towards a future free from the symptoms of stress.
My clients say they feel a lightness and openness after my acupressure and massage treatments. They also mention experiencing clearer minds, and having the headspace to think again.
